Calling Future Ancestors – To General Assembly!

If your congregation has a planned giving & endowment program, or you are starting one up, you already know that thinking about legacy is a deeper area of discernment. How do you bring that up with your congregants? How do you engage them more deeply in long range financial planning that is informed by their values, beliefs, and loves? And how do you guide them if they want to include your congregation or other Unitarian Universalist organizations in those plans?

Please join me, Rev. Laura Randall, Wake Now Our Vision Legacy Campaign Director; and Jay Pacitti, Unitarian Universalist Association Legacy Gifts Officer for our workshop at General Assembly in Kansas City this June:
Calling Future Ancestors – Shaping Our Legacy Today
Saturday 6/23/2018, 1:30 – 2:30 PM
Kansas City Convention Center — 3501 EF

We will give you an opportunity to enter this discernment experience, which you can bring back to your own congregation. Concrete resources will also be provided, to help with setting up and running a program. As a teaser, here is a lovely poem by Rev. Leslie Takahashi, Co-Minister at the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church in Walnut Creek, CA:

We bring into our hearts all those who have gone before us:
All those whose living in this world
has prepared the soil for our living,
all those whose being has enabled our being.
Let us also remember those whose existence
is seeded in our lives today,
not only those who are our physical descendants
but also those whose spirits inherit
the love we sow,
the hope we reap,
the promise we harvest.
