Wednesday Wisdom-sharing: Giving Guidance

Stewardship for Us is pleased to introduce a new idea for the new year – Wednesday Wisdom-sharing sessions on Zoom to which YOU are all invited.  Each session will focus on a specific topic and will include a brief presentation followed by open sharing of your ideas, questions and answers, and we hope lively discussion.  Depending on the size of the group, the latter will either be in breakout rooms or all together.  We will also the features of Zoom, such as polls and chat, for information sharing.

The first session will be next Wednesday, February 2, 2022, and will focus on Giving Guidance, especially timely right now as many of you are planning your Spring annual stewardship campaigns.  We will explore the different forms and messages used in your congregations to help members decide how much to pledge for your annual operating budget and how well they encourage generosity and equitable giving.

Come prepared to discuss the following questions:

  • What guidance is provided at your congregation and does it vary from year to year?
  • Is the guidance formally adopted and embraced by the board?  If not, how it is generated?
  • Do you use the UUA Suggested Share Contribution Guide and, if so, how seriously?
  • Is the guidance based on how much money you would like to raise?
  • Do you track the effectiveness of the guidance in any way? How effective do you think it is? What feedback do you get?
  • What guidance do you provide to new members? Are you satisfied with new member pledging?
  • How and when is the guidance presented in terms of format, timing in relation to the campaign, media, etc.?
  • And of course – what other questions might we consider?

The session will run for an hour beginning at 1:00 PM Eastern, Noon Central, 11:00 AM Mountain, and 10:00 AM Pacific.   You’ll receive the Zoom link by email next Tuesday.

We are excited about the Wednesday Wisdom-sharing concept and hope you will join us.
